Yazmin Marquez - Freshman at WNCC
Recipient of the Grow Our Own Teacher Scholarship & West Family Ed Scholarship

Dear Scottsbluff Schools Foundation,

It is with great gratitude that I express a sincere thank you for the financial support that I have received through the scholarships awarded to me for my continuing education. This assistance has helped alleviate the financial burden that comes with obtaining a higher education. The requirements set by the scholarship committee has pushed me to work hard and maintain a strong grade point average while adjusting to a full-time college and work schedule. Knowing that I was selected to receive these awards among other strong candidates has forced me to focus my time and attention to my studies. I sincerely hope that I can be looked at as a positive role model for future scholarship recipients.

Hailey Sanderson - Senior at UWYO

Recipient of the Steven Green Memorial Scholarship

My senior year of high school, I applied to universities I had interest in and started to seriously consider my future plans. I began to feel intimidated by the cost of tuition, and worried that working enough to support myself may affect my grades. Applying to scholarships can be difficult when people around the country can apply. It can feel like fishing in the dark for financial aid when the pool of scholarships and applicants alike is so vast. However, my advisor pointed me toward local scholarships that fit my interest in the agricultural field. I applied to the Steven Green Scholarship as I officially decided to enter the pre-veterinary program at the University of Wyoming. I was thrilled to be accepted as a recipient for the scholarship.

I am now a senior at the University of Wyoming, set to graduate a full year early. I can attribute a good amount of my success throughout my undergraduate studies to the support provided by the Steven Green Scholarship. Five hundred dollars per semester is substantial and provided me the freedom to fully focus on performing well in my courses. It made the cost of tuition, fees, books and supplies much less daunting. Beyond financial help, the scholarship motivated me to stay on track. The requirements for the scholarship involve a high GPA and a full-time student status. When I lacked ambition, reaching these requirements gave me the extra motivation I needed.

Alyssa Harvey and the other staff at the SBPS Foundation have been great to work with over the past three years. I have never had problems getting in contact with them or receiving payments on time. It is easy to provide what is needed for the requirements, and it is always easy to bring problems to their attention. I could not be more grateful for all their help!
